The Alps and the Neuschweinstein Castle 9-8-10
More Alps shots then a couple from the castle that Disney used for inspiration.
After coming from the top of the Jungrauch, I took a great hike down from Kleine-Scheddigg to Wengen.  I went down part of the marathon trail (that the runners were going UP) and heard a few avalanches.  Half way down a 65 year old Swiss couple, Pietro and Barbara caught me and we walked together for about an hour. They were so fast I almost had to run and Pietro said he just had heart surgery. Folks up here are strong. Navigation is great here, they have signs like this all over the trails delimited by time, not distance.
If anyone has a good photo of an Edelweiss, please let me know. I didn't know anything about these flowers before I got here but they are stuff legends are made of.  I guess they only grow at certain altitudes under certain conditions.  I thought I saw a few but everytime I tried to take a picture it came out blurry or distorted.  Surreal stuff. This poster was the only shot that came out half way distant.
Right before Wengen, we saw this traditional farmer doing what he does best.  The cows here have great bells that you can hear throughout the valley.
I toured around with a fun group and amazingly we made all of our connections!
After coming out of the Alps, I headed east and toured the castle that inspired Disney.  They wouldn't let us take any photos inside but let me tell you this place is insane.  Around Europe, most of the castles have lost their colors inside due to fading.  Since this one was only built 100 years ago, the colors were amazing, puts the Hearst Castle to shame.
